DESS Dental celebrates Sant Jordi's Day by collaborating with the FUPAR Foundation and the Spanish Food Bank Federation
23 April is World Book and Copyright Day and, in Catalonia, Sant Jordi's Day. It’s one of the most emblematic days of the year that’s celebrated in recognition of the patron of Catalonia; a day of celebration, in which the streets of cities and towns are filled with stands containing books and roses.
At DESS® Dental we wanted to celebrate this 23rd of April by collaborating on a great social initiative with our team, promoting one of our basic principles of Social Responsibility: "Commitment to our local communities and promotion of health equity". For this reason, we organised a book and rose solidarity booth where employees could symbolically buy books. All the money collected from employees will go to the Spanish Food Bank Federation.
It is worth mentioning the important work behind the solidarity roses that we bought from the LaFACT FUPAR Foundation (Factoría Social de Terrassa), a non-profit organization that is dedicated to "Placing people with functional diversity at the centre of the life process, offering work orientation, therapeutic, psycho-pedagogical and social support, of a professional and/or natural nature. At the same time, promoting the labour insertion of people with physical, sensory and mental health disabilities". They are part of the process of training and socio-labour inclusion of adults with functional diversity.
Within the foundation, they have the FUPAR Garden Centre, where you can find roses for Sant Jordi, indoor and outdoor plants, shrubs, flowers, tools and gardening products, among others. From the foundation, different activities are carried out whose benefits contribute to the project’s continuity. You can find more information on their website.
It is in our hands to collaborate with local entities and support projects such as FUPAR's. The DESS® Dental team wishes you a happy Book Day and Sant Jordi's Day!
